The Morning I Realized Clothes Should Work Too

The Morning I Realized Clothes Should Work Too

There’s a kind of exhaustion nobody warns you about when you build a company. Not the late nights or the endless meetings. Those you expect. It’s quieter than that. It creeps in at the edges of your day.

For me, it showed up at 5:30 in the morning, in yet another hotel room, staring at a suitcase I had packed in twenty minutes between calls. My name is Vas. I spent fifteen years building an IT services company from the ground up. I negotiated across continents, led teams, and sat in boardrooms where every word mattered. And yet, every morning, the same question: What am I going to wear?

It wasn’t about vanity and it certainly wasn’t about indecision. It was the frustration of clothes that never quite kept pace with the life I was living. I needed a capsule wardrobe women could rely on, one that moved with me from an early flight to a client meeting to a dinner, without forcing me to rethink everything in between.

When I sold my company and finally had the space to ask what I wanted to build next, that question kept coming back. I started talking to other women, executives, founders, and frequent flyers. Women who had carved out careers in rooms where they had to be taken seriously. And again, the same frustration surfaced.

Fast fashion was everywhere, but it fell apart too quickly. Corporate professional women's clothing felt like armor. Casual pieces never survived a trip. Luxury silk clothing was beautiful but too delicate to keep up. Nothing felt designed for the way business professional women actually lived.

That gap became my starting point. Out of it came Eighth Hour, a female founded fashion brand aligned with ethical clothing brands and the new wave of sustainable fashion brands. Designed using mulberry silk, our wardrobe is timeless, versatile, and resilient. Clothes that still look sharp even after hours in a plane seat. Clothes that let you walk into a dinner without changing first.

“It’s a quiet luxury brand’s styling for women who value confidence over noise. A wardrobe that simplifies mornings and brings the benefits of silk to everyday life. After fifteen years in tech, I wanted something simpler: professional women's clothing designed to move seamlessly from boardroom to dinner. That’s how Eighth Hour began, and that’s what Eighth Hour stands for.
